The Chief Master Sergeant of the Air Force (CMSAF) is a unique Enlisted position and as such has its own distinct insignia of grade and collar devices. In contrast to the U.S. lapel insignia worn by other Enlisted Airmen (in which the letters are placed in a circle) or by Officers (the insignia consists only of letters) the CMSAF U.S. lapel insignia features a laurel wreath around the letters.
This one-of-a-kind collar insignia design was introduced at the same time the position was established in 1967 and has remained in effect except during the period between 1991 and 1995, when collar insignia were eliminated for both Enlisted and Officer uniforms. The design of the insignia of grade chevrons worn by the CMSAF, on the other hand, have been revised twice since the position was established, first in 1991 and again in 2004.
Featuring a brilliant mirror finish, our CMSAF U.S. lapel insignia are manufactured in the USA to meet or exceed all Mil-Spec requirements and pertinent Air Force regulations.
