Sometimes referred to as epaulets, Air Force shoulder marks are worn primarily on the shirts and blouses of Officers’ Service Dress, Semi-Formal, Service, and Maternity uniforms (including the blouse of the Maternity Mess Dress). As a Company-Grade rank along with 2nd Lieutenant and Captain, the 1st Lieutenant shoulder marks have no ornamentation aside from the single silver bar indicating the rank and O-2 pay grade; shoulder marks worn by Field-Grade USAF Officers have a single silver braid on the wide end, while those worn by General Officers have braids on both ends.
Use the selection boxes to the right to customize our USAF 1st Lieutenant shoulder marks for the uniform on which they will be worn. Select Large size shoulder marks for wear on bigger shirts or for wear on outerwear garments such as the Topcoat. (Other outerwear garments on which Officers wear shoulder marks include the blue acrylic wool pullover sweater, the blue cardigan, and the white cardigan, though the white cardigan is authorized for wear only with short- and long-sleeve blouses worn with the Maternity Jumper.)
You may also choose between simple embroidered insignia or insignia crafted from exquisite bullion for the ultimate professional appearance.
