USAF E-7 First Sergeants (casually referred to as “Master Sergeants with Diamonds” because of the insignia design) are permitted to wear shoulder marks on the epaulets 50/50 acrylic wool pullover sweater and the blue or white cardigan sweater.
Prior to 2006, SNCOs could optionally wear shoulder marks on the epaulets of the long- and short-sleeve shirts worn with Service Dress, Blue Service, Semi-Formal Service, and various Maternity uniforms, an alternative first introduced in 1976 and fully authorized in 1982 in order to ensure appropriate recognition for the highest-ranking enlisted personnel. Revisions in SNCO insignia designs that were implemented in 1992 eliminated the necessity of the shoulder mark insignia for those ranks, but the option remained in place for more than a dozen years.
Use the selection box to the right to choose between large or small shoulder marks; all personnel are allowed to wear either size.
