In the United States Air Force, shoulder boards are used to display insignia of rank on the Men’s and Women’s Mess Dress and Formal Dress uniforms. Shoulder board rank is to be worn as close to the shoulder seam as possible. Shoulder loops are used instead of epaulettes on Mess Dress coats to secure the shoulder boards. You won't need to buy the loops separately if you’re purchasing a Mess Dress coat along with these Air Force 2nd Lieutenant shoulder boards, but we do offer a sewing service to attach them to the coat.
We can also sew on Officers’ sleeve braids for you when you purchase a new Mess Dress coat, but they are not included and
must be purchased separately here. When it's time to check out, you can choose sewing services to have these items attached so that your coat will be ready to wear when you receive it.
