The Transportation occupational badge is worn by Airmen serving in two Career Fields comprising six Air Force Specialty Codes (AFSCs). The Transportation and Vehicle Management Career Field is comprised of specialists in AFSC 2T0X1 Traffic Management, 2T1X1 Vehicle Operations (previously titled Vehicle Operator/Dispatcher), and 2T2X1 Air Transportation.
The other three specialties—2T3X1 Vehicle and Vehicular Equipment Maintenance, 2T3X2 Special Vehicle Maintenance, and 2T3X7 Vehicle Management and Analysis—were formerly grouped into a Career Field called Vehicle Management. But the Air Force wisely renamed this Career Field to reflect the clear divisions of labor between the two fields; 2T3XX specialties are all associated with maintenance (or scheduling and tracking of maintenance) of transportation assets and are therefore grouped under Vehicle Maintenance.
The focal point of the imagery on the Transportation badge is the falcon, inspired by a stone carving at the National Cathedral that was dedicated to USAF Logistics Personnel on May 10, 1970. It represents both the devotion to duty and fierce dedication of logistics personnel who were so essential to the success of our nation’s defense forces. In its talons, the falcon is holding a globe, representative of the Earth as it appears from outer space. The three arrows circling the globe represent not only the worldwide reach of the USAF’s Transportation services, but also the three means of transportation they employ: Air, Land, and Sea.
