The three levels of Commodore form the highest level of leadership and staff positions in the Coast Guard Auxiliary, and this high level in the organization is reflected by the 2-inch silver lace stripe that only Commodores are authorized to wear on the sleeves of the Dinner Dress Blue Jacket and Service Dress Blue Coat. For the positions of District Commodore (DCO, elected) and Assistant National Commodores (ANACO, appointed), a single 2-inch stripe is worn on the sleeves, positioned 2 inches above the cuff of the sleeve.
Both officials wear a version of the Auxiliary shield 1/4-inch above the lace, with DCOs wearing the shield with a blue “A” reflecting their status as elected officers and ANACOs sporting a shield with a red “A” meaning appointed. Auxiliary shield sleeve devices are embroidered on fabric that matches the jacket or coat on which they will be worn—a shield device for a Service Dress Blue Coat cannot be worn on Dinner Dress Blue Jacket (and vice-versa). Customers purchasing this lacings set may wish to add Auxiliary shield devices to their shopping cart at this time—click on the appropriate Commodore designation and uniform type listed below.
