Three stars arrayed in a triangular pattern with the uppermost star pointing single ray down and the two lower stars aligned to it in a point-to-center configuration, all beneath a fouled anchor mounting a Coast Guard shield, serves as the shoulder board insignia for the National Commodore of the Coast Guard Auxiliary.
Shoulder boards come in two styles, Hard and Enhanced, with the Hard version reserved for the Service Dress White and Dinner Dress White Jacket uniforms. Hard shoulder boards are manufactured in Large and Small sizes; they are the same width, but the Small is a half-inch shorter than the Large (5 inches instead of 5.5 inches).
Available in just one size, Enhanced boards are designed for shirts and sweaters manufactured with epaulettes, such as the light blue Air Force-style short-sleeve shirt and the Wooly-Pully and Cardigan sweaters.
