The sleeve lace insignia worn by the Vice National Commodore (VNACO) and Deputy National Commodores (DNACO) consists of a single 2-inch stripe—a width worn exclusively by Commodores—and a single 1/2-inch lace placed a quarter-inch above it. The 1/2-inch stripe indicates these positions are the next highest above District Commodore (DCO) and Assistant National Commodore (ANACO) in the Coast Guard Auxiliary organizational hierarchy.
Worn on the sleeves of the Dinner Dress Blue Jacket and the Service Dress Blue Coat, the 2-inch stripe is placed 2 inches above the sleeve cuff. A Coast Guard Auxiliary shield sleeve device is placed a quarter-inch above the 1/2-inch stripe, centered on the outside of the sleeve. Two types of shield device are worn with the stripes, one with a red letter “A” for Commodores who were appointed to officer (DNACO) and another with a blue “A” for those chosen through a vote by National Board members (VNACO).
Customers purchasing the VNACO/DNACO lacings set might wish to add an Auxiliary shield to their cart. The two types of shield are offered on different background material to match the jacket/coat on which they will be attached—just click on the link below that matches the USCG Auxiliary Commodore title and type of jacket/coat.
