When wearing the men’s or women’s Dinner Dress White Jacket or Service Dress White uniforms, Flotilla Commanders (FC) in the Coast Guard Auxiliary wear Hard shoulder boards to display their insignia of office, two 1/2-inch laces and an Auxiliary emblem with silver “A.” The design mimics the insignia worn by FCs on the sleeves of the Dinner Dress Blue jacket and Service Dress Blue Coat.
Hard shoulder boards are offered in Large and Small sizes; the 5-1/2” Large is a half-inch longer than the Small, but both sizes come in the same width.
Flotilla Commanders wear Enhanced shoulder boards are worn the shirts of the men’s and women’s Service Dress Blue and Tropical Blue uniforms and on the Wooly-Pully and Cardigan sweaters. Enhanced boards come in a single size, and instead of a button closure for attachment they are slid into place over the epaulettes manufactured on those garments.
