Informally referred to as a “choker,” the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Service Dress White Coat is worn by Commodores and Clergy as prescribed with the uniform of the same name. It is a single-breasted coat of formfitted construction (the Service Dress Blue Coat is semi-fitted) with a Mandarin or standing collar, with five silver, 35-ligne U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary (USCGA) buttons on its right forepart.
The coat’s two breast pockets are secured with a pair of 23-ligne USCGA buttons, and there is a sword slit over the left hip. Hard shoulder boards are secured with shoulder loops that are included with the coat purchased ship unattached (see sewing services below).
Note: Our dress coats and jackets are manufactured with unhemmed sleeves longer than most customers would ever need. This is to accommodate the disparity in our customers’ arm lengths and to ensure there is an abundance of material with which to work during the alteration process.
We do offer a variety of sewing services that will be suggested to you when add the coat to your shopping cart should you prefer to have the coat arrive ready to wear, including an option to have the shoulder loops sewn on that are used to attach hard shoulder boards.
