Our USMC Honor Ride lapel pin is designed for those who have participated in an Honor Ride held to honor a fallen service member. While Honor Rides are organized by various groups and are held all across America, the one most closely associated with the Marine Corps is the City of Duluth (Georgia) Police Department Honor Ride, sponsored by the nonprofit organization Operation One Voice that was established to honor fallen service members in the wake of the 9-11 attacks.
Debuting in 2007, the Honor Ride challenges participants from the Marine Corps and other branches of the military, as well state and local law-enforcement and first-responder agencies to complete a 465-mile bicycle journey with terminal points at Marine Special Operations Command Headquarters at Camp LeJeune and the Fallen Heroes Memorial at the Gwinnett Justice Center in Lawrenceville Georgia. The trek is just seven miles short of the equivalent of 18 marathons (a marathon is 26.218 miles).
