The Male Dinner Dress Blue Jacket worn exclusively with the USPHS Commissioned Corps uniform of the same name is a single-breasted mess jacket sporting semi-peaked lapels and a back that tapers to a point. In front, a trio of 35-ligne gilt buttons emblazoned with the USPHS emblem runs down each side, with two 28-ligne gilt buttons connected by a chain used to close the jacket in front. Sleeve stripings are used to denote grade and the USPHS CC device is sewn on just above the topmost stripe.
