The Female Dinner Dress Blue Jacket Uniform (DDBJ) of the U.S. Public Health Service Commissioned Corps is worn to official functions and ceremonies at which civilian attendees would be dress in black-tie attire (tuxedos for gentlemen, evening gowns for ladies). While any Commissioned Corps Officer may own and wear the DDBJ Uniform, it is mandatory for those in the grade of O-4 (Surgeon) or higher.
A bolero-style jacket with a narrow shawl collar and three 22.5-ligne gilt USPHS buttons on each side of the front is the focal point of the USPHS Dinner Dress Blue Jacket Uniform. It is paired with a blue, floor-length six-gored skirt, white formal shirt, black neck tab, gold cummerbund, and miniature medals.
