In the Commissioned Corps of the United States Public Health Service, the Female Dinner Dress White (DDW) Jacket is worn exclusively with the uniform of the same name, which is a mandatory uniform for all USPHS Officers in the O-4 grade (Surgeon) or higher and an optional purchase for all other personnel.
We manufacture the USPHS Female DDW Jacket at our production facility in North Carolina using Navy-authorized Certified Navy Twill crafted from 100% polyester per USN regulations. (Note: the USPHS uses Navy uniforms for its Commissioned Corps Officers.) Both of the jacket’s front panels have a trio of small USPHS buttons that are ornamental rather than functional because the jacket is worn open. Insignia of grade is displayed on hard shoulder boards attached to shoulder loops that ship unattached with the jacket.*
Note: Our military dress coats and jackets are manufactured with unhemmed sleeves longer than most customers would ever need. This is to accommodate the disparity in our customers’ arm lengths and to ensure there is an abundance of material with which to work during the alteration process.
* We do offer a variety of sewing services that will be suggested to you when add the coat to your shopping cart should you prefer to have the coat arrive ready to wear, including an option to have shoulder loops (used to attach hard shoulder boards), rating badges, service stripes, or other ornamentation sewn onto the jacket.
